Weekend Wrap-Up: "Cars 2" races past "Bad Teacher" to the finish line

Despite dismal reviews, Pixar's Cars 2 finishes
in first at the box office.
Cars 2 still managed to ride on to the top spot despite lukewarm reviews, and grossed $68 million for the weekend, beating the first Cars installment’s $60.1 million opening weekend from June 2006. Cars 2 also delivered the fifth highest-grossing opening weekend yet for a Pixar movie.

Riding on the success of outrageous female-driven flick Bridesmaids, Bad Teacher edged to the second spot with a solid $31 million, largely thanks to the presence of highly bankable stars Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake. According to Sony Pictures, the comedy’s audience was 63% female and 57% aged 25 years and older

Regardless of Green Lantern dropping two spots and ranking third with a steep drop of 65% drop-off in its second weekend at the domestic box office, Warner Bros. announced that they already are planning a sequel to superhero flick, still believing in the potential success of the franchise.

Super 8 also dropped two spots to fourth place and grossed $12.1 million this week. Despite a 44% drop off from its second week, the sci-fi flick accumulated a healthy $95.1 million tally over three weeks and surpassed the final grosses of Battle: Los Angeles and Cloverfield. In fifth place, Jim Carrey’s vehicle Mr. Popper's Penguins dropped 44% as well in its sophomore week and only managed to gross a mediocre $39.4 million in ten days.

Wednesday welcomes the arrival of the third Transformers installment: Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Banking on stunning visuals and special effects, the movie's is marketed as the first must-see 3D event since Avatar. However, will the audience follow suit with the conspicuous absence of star Megan Fox and the dismal reviews of the previous installment Revenge of the Fallen?

July 4th weekend sees two other nationwide releases: Selena Gomez’s tween comedy vehicle Monte Carlo, goes up against Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in Larry Crowne, a romantic comedy following the adventures of the eponymous character who enrolls at his local college after being laid-off. Hanks and Roberts were last seen together in the 2007 drama Charlie Wilson’s War.

  1. Standardowo gdy torzy się wizualizacje 3D ; produktów, obiektów architektonicznych lub
wnętrz, można wyróżnić kilka stałych etapów ich powstawania. Bazowym i
pierwszym w kolejności etapem tworzenia fotorealistycznej wizualizacji jest :
modelowanie w przestrzeni 3D. Polega ono na stworzeniu cyfrowego modelu 3D
    bryły budynku, przedmiotu itp.

  2. Modelowanie wykonuje się z użyciem określonych
technik mp : ( box modeling ) poprzez edytowanie siatki : punktów ( tzw vertex
    ), krawędiz ( edges ), oraz płaszczyzn ( polygons ). Przy tworzeniu modelu w
przestrzeni 3D bardzo przydają się tzw. modyfikatory. Są to funkcje, wykonujące
    określone operacje matematyczne,

  6. Good jockeys will do well on good horses, but not on broken-down nags. Both Berkshire's textile business and Hochschild Kohn had able and honest people running them. The same Interim Management Provider employed in a business with good economic characteristics would have achieved fine records. But they were never going to make any progress while running in quicksand. I've said many times that when a management with a reputation for brilliance tackles a business with a reputation for bad economics, it is the reputation of the business that remains intact.
